Prof. Pat is the Museum of Natural History's curator for trees. He is currently Associate Professor 7 of Plant Taxonomy and Forest Biodiversity and Chairman of the Department of Forest Biological Sciences, College of Forestry and Natural Resources. 

Prof. Malabrigo finished his MS Forestry and BS Forestry from the University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2001 and 1995, respectively.

His expertise are on plant taxonomy, forest biodiversity, marine botany and restoration ecology. He authored the book "Shades of Majesty: 88 Philippine Native Trees" which won the Best Book in Science during the 2013 National Book Awards.
