Zoological and Wildlife Museum

Dr. Joseph S. Masangkay is the museum's curator for wildlife diseases. Fondly called "Doc Masangkay" by fellow veterinarian colleagues and students, he is currently Professor Emeritus of Veterinary Pathology at the UPLB College of Veterinary Medicine-Department of Veterinary Paraclinical Sciences. He specializes in veterinary pathology of laboratory and wildlife animals, specially on wildlife diseases and management.

Dr. Juan Carlos T. Gonzalez is MNH's curator for birds and currently Professor 11 of Zoology at the Animal Biology Division of the Institute of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, UPLB. JC obtained his DPhil in Zoology at Edward Grey Institute for Field Ornithology and St. Anne's College, University of Oxford in 2012 through the support of the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program. He earned his MS (1992) and BS Zoology (1997) degrees in UPLB.

Phillip is MNH's curator for small mammals and other wildlife He graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Banos with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and has completed a Master's Degree in Wildlife Studies also from the same university. Phillip worked for several years as a field biologist with many conservation organizations in the Philippines, pursuing a special interest in the diverse species of bats before he was eventually hired as a research associate by the MNH.

Dr. Leticia E. Afuang is a wildlife conservationist, herpetologist and faculty (Professor 2) at the Animal Biology Division of the Institute of Biological Sciences where she does research in wildlife biology, systematics, taxonomy and ecology of herpetofauna. She engages in environmental science conservation and management research and extension in protected and/or biodiversity significant areas. Her research interests include amphibian and reptile biology, diversity, distribution and conservation.

Dr. Anna Pauline O. de Guia or Pau is MNH's curator for small mammals and currently Professor 2 of Zoology at the Animal Biology Division of the Institute of Biological Sciences. Dr. de Guia is 2007 PhD graduate in Environmental Resources from the Graduate School of Agriculture of Hokkaido University, Japan. She garnered her MS in Wildlife Studies (1997) and BS Zoology (1991) degrees from the University of the Philippines Los Banos.

Dr. Victor S. Ticzon is a marine biologist and an expert in coral reef ecology and remote sensing. He serves as the museum's curator for corals and fish while also heading the Animal Biology Division of the Institute of Biological Sciences where he is appointed as Associate Professor 7. He obtained his BS Biology (1994) and MS Environmental Science (2006) from UPLB while his PhD in Marine Science was granted by UP Diliman in 2014.

Andy is MNH's curator for mammals. He is currently Assistant Professor 3 at the Department of Forest Biological Sciences, College of Forestry and Natural Resources. Sir Andy mainly teaches courses on wildlife and zoology. Prof. Dans has also taught at the Institute of Biological Sciences. He obtained his BS Zoology and MS Zoology from UPLB in 1981 and 1988, respectively.

Prof. Dans' research interests lie in the areas of Biodiversity Conservation, Mammalogy, Morpho-Anatomy, Vertebrate Physiology, Vertebrate Systematics, Wildlife Inventory, Wildlife Ecology and Zoogeography.

Dr. Vivian Camacho is the museum's curator for fish, seconded from the Institute of Biological Sciences-Animal Biology Division where she is an Associate Professor 6. Her expertise is on marine science, marine ecology, aquatic ecology, aquaculture, fisheries science, fish biology, limnology and zoogeography. In terms of research, Ma'm Vivs is interested in conducting studies on freshwater and marine zooplankton and macrobenthos and the use and application of SOFT-BIOFORM in fauna taxonomy and ecology.

Prof. Jude is MNH's Curator for tree shrews other small mammals and currently an Assistant Professor 7 at the Animal Biology Division of the Institute of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, UPLB. She obtained her BS Biology from Mindanao State University-Marawi in 1979 and her MS Zoology from UPLB in 1992. She is currently pursuing PhD in Environmental Science at UPLB and has almost 10 years experience teaching courses in biology, zoology and wildlife studies.

Dr. Ryan de Chavez is the MNH's curator for mollusks and currently facilitates the building up and improvement of the malacological collection. His research focus is on tropical malacology (land and freshwater gastropods), community ecology, evolutionary biology and ecotoxicology. He is also an Associate Professor 5 at the Animal Biology Division, Institute of Biological Sciences where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses.
