Roesy or Rozu is a BS Biology major in Systematics student and Department of Science and Technology scholar at UPLB. She took the internship at the Museum of Natural History from 16 July to 6 August 2021 along with some of her co-systematics majors as requirement of her subject BIO 198.

She was really looking forward to this internship because the one that influenced me to take biology, her teacher in Senior High School, Sir Alden Sinuhin, had also been an intern at the Museum. Even though she have experienced the internship virtually because of the pandemic, she had a lot of learnings especially doing data encoding and data mining. She saw the importance of the tasks that she did to help the museum in its efforts to digitize its collection and make these better accessible.

The internship indeed proved to her that she has taken the right path in systematics;  earlier in life, she had just taken it up as a challenge and yet to have career plans. Her systematics major gave her knowledge and experience and a personal goal to promote the field and protect the environment. She is now considering being a curator someday or be a part of a natural history museum.

Rozu is a proud member of the UPLB Grange Association and University of the Philippines Ecology and Systematics Major Students Society which have given her many opportunities.
