Interns

Abigail Castro is a BS Biology student from Mariano Marcos State University. She has always been fascinated by the complexities of life, which is the main reason why she chose biology as her major. For her, biology is a never-ending study full of surprises, excitement, and wonders, a thought that clearly remains absolute to her as she learns new things.

Her time spent as an intern at the University of the Philippines Los Baños Museum of Natural History (UPLB MNH) for 20 days gave her all the excitement and passion to discover and venture more into the wonders of being a biologist. Rotating across different fields in UPLB MNH equipped her with new knowledge, honed her skills, and even boosted her self-confidence. She considers all her experiences and learnings during her internship as a solid foundation, as she is eyeing a career in the field of microbiological research. On the three days she spent in the field of microbiology, it really piqued her interest in the world of microbes and their significant contributions to the pharmaceutical industry, food industry, and health care. As a DOST scholar, she dreams of making a positive impact on society, its people, the environment, and the whole world someday through various research studies.

On days she’s not occupied with schoolwork, she spends most of her time watching musicals and science fiction TV shows. She also loves to hoard books, mostly in genres like fantasy, contemporary, and dystopian. Both activities are some of her ways to de-stress, as she finds them to be very calming.
