Gabriel Paul Tesoro
Volunteers

Gabriel Paul Tesoro is a BS Agriculture student at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB). He volunteered at the Museum of Natural History (MNH) in the Mycological Herbarium under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Niem and Mr. Reymark Perez.

He was looking for a way to gauge his decision to venture into Plant Pathology as his undergraduate major. He wants to gain experience in herbarium and taxonomy in the UPLB MNH. He was also eager to learn more about plant pathogen species so that he would be introduced to them early in his studies. During his time with the Mycological Herbarium team of UPLB MNH, he has seen many fungal pathogen species in person. He has gone to the collection areas within UPLB together with Kuya Mac to have an additional collection for the museum. More so, he was introduced to some previous museum collections dating back to the 1860s and beyond. In addition, he has also helped in completing the report identification from Ms. Jennifer regarding results from pickled specimens.

His stay with UPLB-MNH Mycological Herbarium was a great experience he undertook because he learned so much about fungal pathogens. He was also introduced to using resin for the collection. He is now decided to take Plant Pathology as his major for his undergraduate studies. It is truly remarkable how the UPLB-MNH volunteer experience shaped how he felt about his interests.
