Fritzie China Adina or Chin is a third-year student at Mariano Marcos State University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Eager to gain practical experience in her field, she participated in an internship at the UPLB- Museum of Natural History from February 12 to March 15, 2024, alongside seven fellow interns. This internship fulfilled the requirements of her BIO 198 (OJT) course.

Chin has always been captivated by the wonders of science and the beauty of the natural world. This lifelong fascination fueled her decision to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, where she could explore her scientific curiosity.

The Museum of Natural History internship offered her a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. She focused on Zoology (Wildlife) and Entomology during her internship where she wasn’t just learning about wildlife and insects from textbooks, but actively contributing to the museum’s mission of research, education, and conservation through hands-on experiences.

Chin is also an art commissioner. Witnessing the meticulous detail and lifelike portrayals of nature in these exhibits, she felt a newfound calling – to translate her scientific understanding and artistic talent into the realm of scientific illustration. Beyond the specific tasks, her internship provided her with a wealth of general learnings which will prove instrumental in her academic journey and future career. Collaborating with fellow interns and museum staff fostered valuable teamwork and communication skills. The acquired skills and knowledge will undoubtedly propel her towards a successful career.
