We are pleased to invite you to the 11th Asian Network of Research Resource Centers (ANRRC) International Meeting (ANRRC 2019). This year, the Philippines, through the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and the UPLB Museum of Natural History, is a proud host to the event which will be held at the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), University of the Philippines Los Baños on October 16-18, 2019.

ANRRC aims to promote cooperation and networking among Bioresource Centers (BRCs) in the Asia-Pacific Region. BRCs are repositories of plant, animal, and microbial species as well as their tissues, cell lines, and genetic information. The uses of BRCs cut across a wide range of fields as scientific resources are made available to research agencies, educational institutions, and the government.

The ANRRC 2019 Theme is “Bioresource Centers: Infrastructure for Biodiversity Conservation, Biotechnology, and Biomedicine”

Sessions include the following:

  1. Session on Biodiversity: conservation, authentication, systematics (taxonomy), and collection of animal, plant, and microbial resources for research and other purposes; regulations and laws relevant to access to biological resource, bioprospecting, and benefit sharing
  2. Session on Biotechnology: use of emerging technological applications such as molecular techniques, genetic engineering, nanotechnology to develop bioresources, their derivatives or products, and relevant processes for agricultural, industrial, and environmental applications
  3. Session on Biomedicine: utilization of animal, plant, and microbial resources for health research; establishment and maintenance of human biobanks
  4. Session on Standardization: guidelines and ISO standards relevant to bioresource repositories and biobanks
  5. Session on Data Management: establishment, management, and of, and access to databases of animal, plant, and microbial resources

Registration fees are US$ 100.00 for foreign participants and ₱4,500.00 for local participants. Deadline for registration is on July 31, 2019.
